The game is based on Japanese folklore regarding Momotarō (the Peach Boy) and mixes in other traditional legends and characters like Princess Kaga and Urashima Kin who run shops or appear throughout the adventure. It acts as an action-oriented spin-off from Hudson Soft's broader Momotaro Densetsu
