Magatama is a rare, Japan-exclusive Xbox game released in 2003 by Microsoft Studios, a 3D hack-and-slash action title featuring fast-paced, twin-bladed combat against hordes of demons and undead. Set in a mythological version of feudal Japan, players control the god-slayer Shinato, who must defeat the evil sorcerer Monkan to prevent a war between the Yamato forces and the Shogun's army. The game is known for its strong visual presentation and soundtrack but received mixed reviews for its gameplay, which some found to be somewhat average despite its impressive graphics.
