Fracture is a 2008 third-person shooter for the PS3 and Xbox 360 developed by Day 1 Studios and published by LucasArts. It features a unique gameplay mechanic called Terrain Deformation, which allows players to manipulate the environment with futuristic grenades and an "entrencher" device. The game is set in a divided 22nd-century America, split by global warming and an ideological war between the cybernetically enhanced Atlantic Alliance and the genetically modified Pacificans. Players control Atlantic Sergeant Jet Brody in an effort to capture Pacifican Commander Sheridan amidst a story involving scientific advancements and xenophobia.
